Damon Wayans Launches WayOutTV, a(nother) Comedy Site

Way Out TV: Coming Soon

Comedian Damon Wayans is launching WayOutTV.com, which shall feature videos produced by aspiring comedians selected by Wayans.

According to the LA Times, Wayans positions the holding as an online comedy club and production studio that could change the way content is bought and sold in Hollywood.

Wayans joins a round table of other comedians that launched similar sites to minimal success.

MyBlueCollar.com, for example, features Jeff Foxworthy. MyDamnChannel.com was debuted in August by Harry Shearer, among others. And Will Ferrell launched FunnyorDie.com, arguably the most well-known of the comedy sites.
"The Landlord," a FunnyorDie sketch, was viewed several million times. An analyst from Forrester Research said it made the site tens of thousands of dollars at the most. The company will not disclose more specific figures.

The analyst also said it is difficult to keep viewers coming back to an entertainment site, no matter how funny it is. Most users are one-time visitors that land when someone sends them a link to existing content.
