Customer satisfaction with e-commerce was once again up, improving 1.3 percent in 2005, after having slightly dropped off the previous year, according to the annual American Customer Satisfaction Index E-Commerce Report, writes Internet Retailer. Customer satisfaction with online retail is also nearly 12 percent higher than for the overall retail industry, the aggregate satisfaction level for which declined 0.3 percent, to 72.4.
Amazon.com's score increased 3.6 percent to reach 87 on the index, tying it with BN.com (Barnes & Noble) for the highest score of all retailers and service providers measured by ACSI. eBay returned to its all-time high of 81, way in front of auction sites. Expedia had the greatest score increase in the online travel category, up 3.9 percent to 79, and now leads in that category.
