Customer Sues Comcast over Traffic-Shaping Practices

After the Associated Press asserted Comcast significantly slows connections for users engaging in filesharing, Comcast customer John Hart filed a lawsuit against the cable giant over the issue.

After upgrading his service to the faster Performance Plus package, Hart claims he was the victim of false advertising since Comcast did not disclose its traffic management practices, reports Ars Technica.

Hart is seeking damages, class-action status for his lawsuit, and a change in the company's advertising to explain the traffic blocking.

After accusations flew last month, Comcast responded by saying that it only delays certain traffic hogs. It did not comment on the Hart lawsuit.

The Senate is currently pushing for a congressional hearing surrounding traffic blocking by ISPs like Verizon, AT&T, and Comcast.
