Cuban Subpoenas Google over Uploaded Videos

Cuban

Mark Cuban's Magnolia Films has asked a U.S. federal court to force Google to produce the identities of the people who uploaded copyrighted videos to Google Video and YouTube.

Magnolia asked a Dallas federal court on March 6 to issue the subpoena, then amended it the next day to demand that Google provide the uploaders' information by March 20, Reuters reports.

"We don't expect to get valid user information," Cuban said. "If we do, we will contact them and ask them what induced them to upload content they don't own."

Cuban has been an outspoken critic of YouTube, saying anyone who would buy the video-sharing site was a "moron" - in light of the potential legal liabilities concerning copyright.
