Cox Newspapers is working with Quattro Wireless to launch mobile-friendly sites for a number of its publications, reports MediaPost.
Quattro will help Cox launch mobile versions of 19 of its 43 newspapers, something Cox feels will help broaden ad sales opportunities. Quattro's sales team will handle ad sales and technical infrastructure.
Quattro provides similar publishing/ad sales help for Playboy. Neither party stated how revenues will be split between Quattro and Cox.
Cox is the most current publisher to use mobile to convey breaking news and alerts to audiences at a time when newspaper revenue is suffering.
