MarketingVOX: Wired: BK's Chicken Effort a Porn Takeoff
A story MarketingVOX ran on Wednesday called into question the idea quickly spreading through various opinion columns that the recent Burger King viral campaign involving a "Subservient Chicken" was meant to be a spoof of web porn cam theater. As it happens, agency Crispin Porter & Bogusky's creative was indeed intended to be a porn spoof and has started avid discussions on several Internet marketing bulletin boards.
Where MarketingVOX pointed out that the chicken in question appeared to be a Rhode Island Red rooster (not a hen), one pundit pointed out that some hens in this breed have combs as well, making it a poor determinant of gender.
