ClickZ: More Broadband Usage Means More Online Spending
comScore chairman Gian Fulgoni said that broadband access has a large boosting effect on individuals' spending levels online, causing broadbanders to spend half again as much as what dial-up access people spend on e-commerce. Also, he said that comScore has found a strong direct relationship to the number of years a person has been online with the amount of money spent on e-commerce. Those online for at least a decade spent more than $700 in six months, where those online for less than two years spent less than $400 in the same period. As more and more people gain tenure and comfort online and as more and more people gain broadband access, e-commerce may be about to see a double-whammy of growth.
