Congress Planning Google/DoubleClick Hearings

The only place big enough
to hear Google

Both houses of Congress have signaled they'll be holding hearings on the acquisition of DoubleClick by Google, reports The New York Times.

The hearings would include testimony by executives from Google. That testimony seems to be a subset of a larger look by a subcommittee of the Senate Judiciary Committee into the wave of consolidation and acquisitions sweeping the digital ad world.

Google appears confident it can weather both this inquiry, as well as the investigation by the Federal Trade Commission. Both are aimed at ensuring the deal will not unduly restrict competition in the online ad marketplace or violate privacy concerns regarding the collection and use of user data.
