News aggregation site Congoo is getting into the social news game, reports The Globe & Mail.
Congoo will give its users the ability to vote up or down on the importance of a story featured on the site. The user-assist is designed to improve upon the algorithm the site uses to determine the top stories it pulls from 25,000 sources, then arranges into 500 vertical categories. The user recommendation feature will not replace the algorithm, just supplement it.
The site is also offering a social networking feature that highlights what similar people have determined to be important stories.
Stories must be from a source Congoo already scours, differentiating the site from popular destinations like Digg and Newsvine, which allow users to submit stories.
