Confessions of a 'Facebook Stalker'

Going public

Used by millions of college students, social networking site Facebook allows people to access personal info, such as pictures and relationship status of friends and casual acquaintances.

With so much personal information online, it can be hard to separate what one has learned via face-to-face interaction from "facebook stalking," adding a new complication to physical meetings.

"I meet new people, and that's the worst, because I've seen them on Facebook. I know all about their life and who they're dating, but I have to pretend I know nothing about them," Reus, a 21-year-old female Vanderbilt student, told USA Today.

Reus's Facebook profile reveals her cellphone number, email address, screen name, campus post-office box and 153 pictures of her with friends and a boyfriend. She would list her suite number, too, she says, but that's against sorority rules designed to protect personal safety.
