Comscore to Start Measuring Blog, Social Network Figures

'Hello world, today I...'

ComScore has announced it will begin measuring blog readership numbers, as well as those of social networks, reports eWeek.

The measurement firm will soon release what it's calling the Conversational Media Report, a nod to the blogosphere's informal tone. In a statement, comScore said it is working with John Battelle's Federated Media to find both well-known blogs, and blogs with smaller traffic numbers as well.

Measurement numbers from a respected name like comScore could herald the influx of serious advertising dollars to this sector. Figures may make blogs an easier sell to skittish buyers.

ComScore is creating the blog project as a custom report because, it said, of the visitor behavior it found unique to blogs. The report will be available as part of the MyMetrix interface.
