comScore: Searches Up 26 Percent for Year, Google Still Leads

Google Sites captured 47.5 percent of the U.S. search market (search volume) in January, gaining 0.2 percentage points from the previous month, according to comScore's monthly qSearch analysis of activity across competitive search engines.

Yahoo sites maintained second place with 28.1 percent of U.S. searches, followed by Microsoft sites, 10.6 percent; the Ask network, 5.2 percent; and the Time Warner network, 5.0 percent.

Some 6.9 billion online searches were conducted in January in the U.S., up 2 percent from December - and up 26 percent year over year - according to comScore.
 
Google sites led in the number of search queries performed in January with 3.3 billion, followed by Yahoo sites (1.9 billion), MSN-Microsoft (733 million), Ask network (361 million), and Time Warner network (342 million).
