Second-quarter online retail sales were up 26 percent from 2Q04, reaching $21.1 billion, reports Internet Retailer, citing just-released data from the Department of Commerce Census Bureau. Total retail sales in 2Q05 were estimated at $940.8 billion, up 8.4 percent from the year-ago period. The numbers are adjusted for seasonal variation and holiday and trading-day differences. The Commerce numbers differ from the quarterly numbers reported by comScore: $17.6 billion, up 26.3 percent from 2Q04.
