Colorado-based Me.dium has secured $15 million in venture funds, reports Read/WriteWeb. The company is creating a next-gen "collaborative browsing technology" that dynamically combines visualization and chat.
To elaborate, the new browser will allow users to communicate with others who have similar interests. Users can "see" who else is on the Web. For example, while browsing for a gadget, users can strike up a conversation with others that have navigated to the same product.
Another example is crowd following, where users can see where there a proliferation of users is congregated and check out the site - much like going into a restaurant off the street based on full tables.
Surely there are privacy issues involved where users must let go of the anonymity involved with surfing the web. However, Me.dium claims the user will own all of his or her own personal info.
