CNBC today unveiled its new website offering financial news and data, interactive features and an emphasis on video.
The relaunched CNBC.com offers both video-on-demand and a streaming video player to provide live coverage, including press conferences, Federal Reserve testimony and interviews on the stock exchange floor, reports MediaPost. The free services are ad supported, and charter advertisers include Ameritrade, Gorilla Trades, Etrade, Fidelity Investments and Scottrade.
Also offered are pre-roll spots up to 30 seconds on VOD clips and a pre-roll unit for the live video player. Embedded on each web page, the VOD player includes news clips from the previous 24 hours. Since April, CNBC.com has amassed an archive of more than 15,000 videos, with 75 clips added each day.
The site also features Web 2.0-style widgets that allow users to customize a stock ticker at the bottom of the screen and a watchlist that lets users know when guests related to their stocks are scheduled to appear on CNBC.
The new CNBC.com offers "aggressive breaking business news coverage, in-depth analysis, and exceptional investment tools which you can personalize to best serve your needs. In addition, CNBC.com has the most extensive business video in web history, live video programming, a substantial list of topical blogs from CNBC's anchors and reporters," according to a message on the site from Mark Hoffman, President CNBC.
