Publishing company CMP has announced plans to shutter a number of print titles as it shifts its focus to online, reports BTBOnline.
The print content of Network Computing and Optimize will be migrated to InformationWeek as those two titles shut down. Dr. Dobbs Journal will now sport content from SysAdmin, which is also being closed down. Call Center is going completely online.
The move comes as a number of publishers fold print magazines in favor of online-only publications. Hearst and Hachette Phillipe has both made similar moves with some of their lifestyle and teen-oriented magazines.
CMP's decision is being cast as one that more substantively demonstrates a change in focus to new media organization.
CMP will also launch a new web venture dubbed bMighty.com, which will target a small and mid-size businesses.
