File swappers are reaching for some political clout, feeling left out in the face of successful music industry lobbying for favorable laws. John Parres, a moderator for an online music discussion group, launched "Click the Vote," a net-based center for organizing political action and fundraising. The group plans on using the technologies they employ for music sharing to spread their alternately populist and libertarian philosophies.

Specific endorsed policies aren't yet clearly defined, and that's where the organization may find its greatest difficulties, as the support behind music file sharing comes from a vastly diverse range of rationales. Netrepreneur libertarians may want the same music file sharing legal regime as an anti-globalist college student, but that does not make them political brethren.
