Online classified advertising company Classified Ventures Friday announced that it has acquired HomeGain, an online real estate site, reports MediaPost. The deal helps Classified Ventures shore up its real estate ads, which are facing serious competition. The company is jointly owned by six large newspaper publishers: Belo, Gannett, Knight Ridder, McClatchy, Tribune, and Washington Post. The firm's strategy intends to recapture classified users who have migrated to the internet from print classified pages. The financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
