Chi Trib Dumps Print Classifieds, Drives Job-Hunters Online

Relegate the red pen
to the trash bin

The Chicago Tribune is cutting back on help-wanted ads in its print edition. To fill that void, it will push readers toward online offerings.

Print classified ads will now appear exclusively in the paper's Sunday edition. Tuesday editions will carry a pared-down offering with basic listing information, followed by a listing identification number for access to the Tribune's online CareerBuilder posts.

The move brings traffic to CareerBuilder's coffer and cuts back on the Chicago Tribune's printing expenses.
