Leveraging recent news that eBay was ordered to pay $61 million for auctions of counterfeit goods, a company called CheckMEND is offering its services to users of online retailers and auction sites.

CheckMEND is an online property authentication firm. Clients search its database, which contains 100 million records of counterfeit and stolen products, to gauge the authenticity of an item they plan to buy.
