To narrow down your selection of articles, click on the "AND" or "NOT" next to any of the categories below. Say you’re currently browsing entries in category "A", you can then drill down into entries that belong both to category A and another category, or belong to category A but not another category. For instance, you could list entries about demographics in the automotive sector, or entries about email marketing that are not about spam. Numbers in the columns below indicate how many entries the selected operation will narrow your query to. SocNets Poised to Follow Email Down Spam Path

Social networking sites are increasingly becoming a prime target for spammers - a point driven home recently by the massive $711 million judgment Facebook was awarded against the so-called "king of spam" Sanford Wallace. Spam has been a staple of most email inboxes for years - and has made it increasingly difficult for legitimate marketers' messages to reach their intended audience. Its volumes have   [...]

Hoping to expedite the close of the state's $15 billion budget gap, New York Governor David Paterson is proposing a tax on music and other downloads made online. To download online content from a site like iTunes, for example, users must create an account with a billing address, so additional fees to New York residents can be applied with relative ease, observes the New York   [...]

The Republican National Committee (RNC) plans to sue CafePress for permitting vendors to sell unlicensed Republican merchandise, including shirts and stickers that portray the Grand Old Party elephant -- even if those portrayals are positive. "Please cease and desist from allowing vendors to utilize the federally registered trademarks of the RNC or we will be   [...]

MySpace Bug Unearths 'Private' Photos

A MySpace bug was discovered last week that allows anyone to view photos set private by the user, including users who mark themselves "under age 14," which automatically renders their profiles private to anyone outside their networks. The loophole was discussed on message boards as far back as three months. Wired cites an October forum exchange between two self-described "pedo soldiers" who  [...]

Scanner Tool Unearths Corporate Roots Behind Wikipedia Edits

The anonymity the internet provides is a two-way street: though it allows complete freedom, it contributes to the wild west that is the web, more often than not. Wikipedia Scanner hopes to alter that trend, at least a little. Wikipedia Scanner traces IP addresses, revealing occasionally disturbing, though unsurprising, evidence on what kind of people are making changes on company wiki pages: oftentimes, the companie  [...]
