Star Tribune, CarSoup.com Target Auto Ad Dollars
The Minneapolis Star Tribune is partnering with CarSoup.com to power the stagnant car-selling portion of the publication's website, StarTribune.com/cars. Levinson Leaves Google Board; Formal Divide Between Google, Apple Grows
Two months after Google CEO Eric Schmidt departed Apple's board, Arthur Levinson, who serves on both boards, has resigned from Google's.
The move was greeted with pleasure by the Federal Trade Commission, which is in the process of examining overlapping board memberships for companies whose interests compete. Google and Apple have increasingly crossed each other's paths with their introduction of rival mobile platforms: the iPhone and Android.

AOL Snaps Up Another GOOG Exec
This week Time Warner's AOL snapped up Shashi Seth for its SVP-Global Ad Products position. Seth worked at Google in a number of senior roles, such as product lead for web search and head of monetization efforts at YouTube.
In June 2008, Seth left Google to become CRO of startup firm Cooliris.
At AOL, Seth will manage the development of ad technologies and report to Jeff Levick, President-Global Ad Strategy. Levick also came from Google, as did AOL CEO Tim Armstrong.

Obama Solicits Texts to 'See What's Happening' in Africa
Prior to his Friday trip to Ghana, President Barack Obama has received thousands of text messages about Africa -- messages of both support and criticism, says the White House.
The texts were sent after the Administration set up country-specific SMS codes to which inhabitants of Africa were invited to send messages.

AOL Taps Ex-Googler Tim Armstrong for CEO/Chairman
In a surprise announcement last week, Time Warner's Jeff Bewkes announced the appointment of ex-Google Advertising Head Tim Armstrong as AOL's new CEO and Chairman.
Armstrong replaces ex-CEO Randy Falco; and President/COO Ron Grant. His position is effective April 7.

YHOO Takes Q4 Loss of $303M; Bartz Keeps Eye on Silver Lining

Ballmer Email Divulges 5000 MSFT Staff Cuts in 18 Mos.
An internal email written by Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer, detailing plans to cut 5000 jobs in 18 months as well as other cost cuts, was leaked to the press early this morning.

NYT Scores Cash Infusion from One of World’s Wealthiest
Mexican billionaire Carlos Slim Helu is investing $250 million in The New York Times Co., the company said in a statement Monday.

Google Cuts 100: Good-Bye to Google Video, Dodgeball, Notebooks
Yesterday Google announced plans to cut 100 jobs. Cuts include recruitment staff, as well as the redundancy of three engineering offices and the shutdown of a handful of projects.
