Amazon Pulls Plug on Paid Search Associates' Fees

As of May 1, 2009, web retail giant Amazon will cease paying referral fees to Associates that use pay-per-click programs on search engines to send traffic to amazon.com, amazon.ca or endless.com. Last.fm to Pay Royalties to 'Indy' Musicians, Bands

CBS's online radio community, Last.fm, launched the New Artist Royalty Program, which will issue royalties to independent ("indy") and unsigned bands. Musicians have the option of joining the royalty program when they upload music to Last.fm. Royalties will be paid whenever a user plays one of their songs. The Interactive Advertising Bureau (IAB) created a new membership level for small online publishers, part of an effort to help them "prevent adverse state and Federal regulation that could hinder [their] ability to sell or carry advertising." Facebook May Face Class Action Suit, Fueled by Canadian Law School Students

The Canadian Internet Policy and Public Interest Clinic has filed a privacy complaint against Facebook, asserting it violates the Canadian Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act.
