The North Face is taking advantage of geo-targeting capabilities on mobile devices to send text messages to potential customers whenever they are near a store that carries North Face gear.

EyeWonder Helps Fox, GE Pontwificate with Users
To promote Season One of "Dollhouse," out on DVD and Blu-ray on July 28, Fox Home Entertainment launched a rich media ad that streams Twitter tweets and enables users to engage in conversation through the ad itself.

Hacked Accts Divulge Twitter's Thirst for Solvency ... and Meditation
A French hacker that managed to penetrate a number of sensitive Twitter employee accounts has leaked documents that reveal the company's financial ambitions, pending profit models and a "growing sense of entitlement" among its workers, Valleywag reports.

Patent Filings Divulge Ad Model for Kindle
Over the last 30 days, the US Patent Office has published several patents for Amazon that lend insight on the company's future plans for its Kindle book reader.
One patent, filed in December 2006, will grant customers that purchase a print copy of a book the ability to access the electronic version as well.
Two other patents go into detail about incorporating targeted advertising in on-demand content on Kindle.

Online Classifieds Use Doubles in 4 Years, Eat Newspapers' Profit
A study by the Pew Research Center's Internet & American Life Project finds that nearly half (49%) of global online adults used online classified ads at some point -- compared to 2005, when 22% of online adults had used them.
On any given day, one-tenth of online users (9%) visit an online classified site, up from 4% in '05.
