To narrow down your selection of articles, click on the "AND" or "NOT" next to any of the categories below. Say you’re currently browsing entries in category "A", you can then drill down into entries that belong both to category A and another category, or belong to category A but not another category. For instance, you could list entries about demographics in the automotive sector, or entries about email marketing that are not about spam. Numbers in the columns below indicate how many entries the selected operation will narrow your query to. You can combine multiple intersection and exclusion criteria to further limit the number of entries.

Britain Turns to Social Media to Promote 2012 Games
Britain's national tourism agency is turning to social media to promote the country well before the start of the 2012 Olympic Games.
VisitBritain is quite aware of the tourism value the Games can deliver - roughly $2 billion. It wants to increase that amount through savvy marketing with Facebook and Twitter and local blogs to tempt tourists to go beyond the beaten path in London - as well as entice other sporting, cultural and business events.

Discount Site Groupon Goes Hyper Local
Groupon, a site that offers deep discounts for local services such as restaurants, auto detailing, spas and holistic healing, is refining its segmentation even further: in some markets, such as Washington, DC, it has begun offering hyper local discounts.

Middle-Aged Moms Swoon over New Moon
Adult women are responsible for a big portion of ticket sales for the recently released 'The Twilight Saga: New Moon' film, which took in $140.7 million opening weekend and $42.5 million the following weekend.
While "Twi-hard" teen girls were the expected and most obvious fan base, it is now clear that the vampire-meets-werewolf film has also drawn in their mothers, who are flocking to social media sites to discuss and promote the film as eagerly as their Millennial offspring.

Online Retailers Tackle Sales-Tax Hurdles
Sales taxes - or the absence of them - are one of the big reasons why some online retailers can often beat out their brick-and-mortar counterparts that also sell online.
Simply put, many e-tailers do not collect taxes from their customers if they don’t have a presence in a state. This gives them an edge over operations that range from Wal-Mart to Target to Sak's Fifth Avenue.
This discrepancy is also one reason sites such as eBay and Amazon have thrived in the downturn, [...]

These advances - along with a greater understanding of how to better leverage data that companies already have in house - are bringing marketers closer to the as-of-yet unrealized industry ideal of personalizing emails based on where and how long a consumer lingered on a particular site.
