To narrow down your selection of articles, click on the "AND" or "NOT" next to any of the categories below. Say you’re currently browsing entries in category "A", you can then drill down into entries that belong both to category A and another category, or belong to category A but not another category. For instance, you could list entries about demographics in the automotive sector, or entries about email marketing that are not about spam. Numbers in the columns below indicate how many entries the selected operation will narrow your query to. You can combine multiple intersection and exclusion criteria to further limit the number of entries.

Just What Is A "NewFront?" And Should Brands Be Interested?

It would have been fun to see cranky interviewer Piers Morgan meeting Mashable Editor Adam Ostrow, or to see if Tom Hanks and a Yahoo! executive have anything in common. (They do.) This was Digital Content NewFronts, a two-week event in New York that wraps next week, and which brings together brands, marketers, distributors, and talent to explore (and sell) digital content and media opportunities. These are much like the TV upfronts, but instead the “networks” included AOL, Google/YouTube, H  [...]

Zynga Targets a Different Type of User with OMGPOP

There has been much speculation on the direction of Zynga since its IPO. Clearly it wants to carve out a separate identity from Facebook, but it is not willing to loosen the ties too much.  However, its just-announced acquisition of OMGPOP, the maker of the wildly popular "Draw Something" shows that Zynga is not just interested in separating itself from Facebook—but that it also wants to attract a differ  [...]

Game-maker Bows to Power of Social Media

The ending to Mass Effect 3 left many gamers disgruntled--to the point that a petition to the Federal Trade Commission was filed complaining about how the game maker used deceptive advertising in its description of the game. Now its appears Electronic Arts and BioWare are about to cave—but probably not because they fear an inquiry from the FTC. Rather, it is the fury of their fan base they are seeking to appease, which has gaining momentum and a microphone via social media.   [...]

Integrated Campaigns Increasingly Include QR Code Element

At one time, an integrated ad campaign was some combination of online, TV, print and perhaps DOOH. The growing popularity of QR codes, however, is causing many marketers to rethink that formula to include this mobile element. One example is the new Vicks Behind Ear Thermometer, which is focusing heavily on the mobile channel, but also is using print ads, targeted email blasts, digital online ads, place-based TV ads, geolocal targeting, and yes, QR codes, DM News   [...]

Digital Ads: A Bigger Seat at the Table, But Which Table?

Newly-released figures from the Interactive Advertising Bureau and PwC show that U.S. Internet ad revenues continued their growth trajectory in Q3, reaching $7.88 billion for a 22% increase over the same period in 2010. These figures also show a 2.7% uptick from the revenues of the second quarter of 2011, as well as mark the eighth consecutive quarter of year-over-year growth. The numbers and general growth trend prompted David   [...]
