Britain Turns to Social Media to Promote 2012 Games
Britain's national tourism agency is turning to social media to promote the country well before the start of the 2012 Olympic Games.
VisitBritain is quite aware of the tourism value the Games can deliver - roughly $2 billion. It wants to increase that amount through savvy marketing with Facebook and Twitter and local blogs to tempt tourists to go beyond the beaten path in London - as well as entice other sporting, cultural and business events.

Dearth of Mobile Coupons Leaves Shopper Money on Table
Just more than half of consumers (51%) across 11 countries including the US used mobile phones for in-store activities such as comparison shopping and getting peer feedback, product information and coupons, during the 2009 holiday shopping season, according to a study by Motorola.

Food mogul Nestle has turned to Twitter for an ad campaign to promote JuicyJuice, reports AdAge.

Meebo Unifies SocNets, Content Sites on Engagement Platform
IM service aggregation site Meebo has launched "multi-network IM access," which enables users to unify other social graphs on its platform, including major social networks and gaming sites. A sharing interface also enables them to swap content with greater ease.

Twitter Raises Over $35M in Series C
