CareerBuilder Brings Targeted Classifieds to Facebook

Chummy with the Zuck

CareerBuilder.com is working with Facebook to run targeted recruitment ads within the social network, reports Reuters.

Facebook users will see ads alongside profile pages or as sponsored links in their activity stream. Ads link back to sponsored employers' sections in CareerBuilder and are targeted based on the user's profile.

By targeting recruits in Facebook, both CareerBuilder and participating employers hope to reach young people that do not browse print classifieds.

The ads are not part of the Beacon ad platform, so friends will not be able to see what job listings a user clicks on. This curbs potentially embarrassing situations involving current employers — one hazard of mixing professional relationships in a personal sphere like Facebook.
