Capitol Music Group has signed a deal to bring concerts by its stable of artists into virtual world There.com, reports MediaWeek.
There.com is creating a new virtual nightclub in-world called The Tower. Recording artist MIMS will perform at the opening, scheduled for July 10th. The MIMS avatar will then stick around to interact with fans and attendees after the virtual show.
Five more such concerts are scheduled over the next few months, with more possible. Fans will also be able to buy both virtual and real-world swag, from t-shirts for avatars to real CDs.
There.com reports a slightly younger citizenry than the more ubiquitous Second Life. It's also described as a bit less risque, making it a bit safer for younger audiences.
