With NBC Universal's introduction of getTrio.com, the short-lived but well-loved cable TV channel Trio is making its online comeback, writes the New York Times.
Trio stopped broadcasting in January 2006, but NBC launched two companion websites, OUTzoneTV.com and BrilliantButCancelled.com in June and May, making available some of the programming that appeared on the channel as well as offering original content.
The new getTrio.com will act as a daily pop-culture filter by offering tips on things to see, buy and do around the world. It will be overseen by Charlie Suisman, the man behind the understated Manhattan User's Guide, an early arrival in an increasingly crowded field of online culture filters, among them the popular Flavorpill.
The filter can be delivered daily via email and mobile phone.
