Cellular News: Camera phone market to soar - report
A new forecast by IDC Mobile Devices predicts that the worldwide shipping of camera phones will rise to 278 million by 2007, up from 19 million in 2002.
To understand the implications of this, I think that it is important to look at communication in the context of conversion. In the long term, with penetration numbers like this, the mobile would become the primary device, with everything else playing a supporting role. The mobile will handle emailing, texting, blogging, instant messaging, video messaging and will be able to interact with all device, ranging from PCs to TVs. Within this context imaging would become a highly significant part of the communication process.
