Avatar riot in Aisle 28
Brookstone has opened a virtual store that is accessible when a user downloads Kinset, a virtual storefront technology limited to Windows users.
The 3D store combines an experience reminiscent of Second Life, along with real merchandise customers can buy.
The look and layout replicates that of a real store. Shoppers can move through it and zoom in on products with mouse and keyboard. Detailed info is available by stopping in front of an item, according to Reuters.
Brookstone is targeting those aged 25 to 40, believing a younger group is more accustomed to moving through 3D spaces.
