Internet Retailer: Broadband Internet access reaches 49% of all home, NetRatings reports

NetRatings reports that broadband has reached just shy of half of U.S. homes. Almost 63 million American households have access to broadband Internet. That, in turn, is driving much more Internet use, with the average broadband household spending about 70 percent more time online than the narrowbanders.

The rise has been rapid, with only one in eleven homes reporting broadband access as recently as 2000.
