Spears most-sought
"Britney Spears" was the most-searched term on Yahoo.com this year, but the epic tale of Barack Obama's presidential victory won more click-throughs than any other story on the engine, reports Yahoo (via Reuters).
Spears topped Yahoo's top 10 search terms for seven out of the past eight years, followed closely by "World Wrestling Entertainment" and Obama in 2008. Others on the list included — in descending order — "Miley Cyrus," "RuneScape" (an online game), "Jessica Alba," "Naruto" (a cartoon series), "Lindsay Lohan," "Angelina Jolie," and "American Idol."
Top political searches were for Obama, "Sarah Palin," "John McCain," "Hillary Clinton," "George Bush," "Ron Paul," "John Edwards," "Mike Huckabee," "Arnold Schwarzenegger" and "Mitt Romney." Schwarzeneggar was the only non-presidential or vice-presidential candidate on the list.
In terms of news stories, the most-searched involved hurricanes Caylee and Casey Anthony, followed by "election 2008," "Pakistan," "pregnant man," "China," "Iraq," "Shelley Malil," "Patrick Swayze" and "Afghanistan."
