Online video solutions firm Brightcove on Monday launched a consumer-destination site in an effort to compete with video-sharing sites such as YouTube, as well as an advertising network and syndication marketplace.
The Brightcove consumer site offers many clips by content providers that offer their content online with Brightcove's help; it also offers video web search powered by Truveo, writes paidContent's Rafat Ali. Brightcove also launched online advertising, e-commerce and video syndication networks.
"Anyone in the world can launch a channel. You can use as much bandwidth as you want and you can generate revenue in a variety of ways," Brightcove CEO Jeremy Allaire is quoted by CNET as saying.
Brightcove will keep half of ad revenues from ad-supported videos, and it would keep 30 percent of sales on for-fee/paid video clips. The Brighcove press release has all the details on the new offerings.
