The power of the tube
A report from Borrell Associates finds ad revenue from local TV websites is growing, reports MediaPost.
According to Borrell, revenue from ads on local station websites grew 72 percent in 2007, to reach $772 million. That growth is expected to continue with a slightly smaller 45 percent increase predicted for 2008.
According to the report, advertisers who wouldn't normally consider buying TV time may be more inclined to buy online ad space for preferred local stations.
Station sites also take audience share from newspapers, the report says. Video is a major point of persuasion, which is why papers are looking for ways to expand video offerings on their websites.
