A majority of Baby Boomers get asked for recommendations on products and services about 90 times every year, according to a study by Weber Shandwick (via eMarketer).
Nearly all (89 percent) of those who were asked for advice gave it to their fellow Boomers. As with most word-of-mouth, most - 84 percent - of boomer recommendations are made face to face, and 82 percent by phone; only 45 percent are made online, usually via email.
While close to 70 percent of Boomers surveyed went online to research a future purchase, less than 10 percent got information from blogs or online communities.
The key to igniting buzz is to provide enough information online to fuel offline word-of-mouth, according to eMarketer.
