Ad network BlueLithium has named Scott L. Kauffman to the new post of president and chief operating officer.
Kauffman joins BlueLithium from digital publishing and marketing services firm Zinio. Kauffman "has deep experience in traditional and online publishing along with advertising and Web technology. He'll be a great asset to the senior leadership team," said Gurbaksh Chahal, founder, chairman and CEO of BlueLithium.
Kauffman's has held leadership positions at CompuServe and Time Warner, where he served for five years on the founding team of Entertainment Weekly magazine and as VP of business development for Time Warner Interactive. At CompuServe, he was responsible for all consumer businesses. Prior to Time Warner, he was also a publisher and general manager at Newsweek.
"Gurbaksh and his team have created the ability to turn user data from billions of ad serving interactions into higher ROI for advertisers and higher inventory value for publishers. I look forward to helping the company fully capitalize on this opportunity," Kauffman said.
Kauffman was recruited to Silicon Valley in 1997 by Kleiner Perkins to become president & CEO of third-party ad serving company AdKnowledge, founded by Dave Zinman, who is SVP of products for BlueLithium. After selling AdKnowledge to CMGI in 1999, Kauffman ran eCoverage (direct-to-consumer insurance), MusicNow (online music service) and web analytics firm Coremetrics, where he is a member of the Board of Directors.
