Vice's popular 'Do's and Don'ts'
The user revolution is now hitting the fashion world. On the rise are fashion blogs that cover the latest trends, typically by snapping photos of street fashion in whatever city the blogger happens to reside, reports The Seattle Times.
Though fashion mags like Vice and Nylon have been covering street fashion for some time, the accessibility of blogs have spawned countless amateur fashion editors. These blogs are read largely by art and design students, and young designers looking for inspiration; as the trend goes, everyone is bypassing established fashion editors for a little closet inspiration.
Matthew L. Gates of San Francisco is a literature major who trawls the streets seeking the fashion-worthy for his Street Fancy blog. He gets some 11,000 views a day. Another English Major, now a program manager at Microsoft, Jasmine Park, does the same in Seattle for her Pike/Pine blog.
One former fashion blogger, Scott Schuman, has retired his blog, The Sartorialist, to freelance for GQ Magazine and style.com. The Sartorialist also made Time magazine's list of the 100 top design influencers this year.
