Danavan.net: Blog ads thrived during election campaign, but what now?
BlogAds.com, the network of roughly 500 blogs, sold plenty of advertising running up to the elections, according to BusinessWeek, but some question whether or not the smallish diary websites have the staying power and relevance to attract continued advertising after the presidential decision. Network manager Henry Copeland said he thinks ads will dip, but will come back in 2005 with a more diverse set of advertisers. Advertisers in most media typically see an end-of-year slowdown, but many blogs are more dependent on political category advertising due to the nature of their content. That said, the more expensive sites boast prices that typically work out to CPMs of only $0.60 or less, which is a market imbalance that acts as a strong wind at the backs of blogs selling ads.
