Speaking at the OMMA conference in Hollywood, blogger Henry Blodget said Google should - and predicted it would - buy automated TV spot creation agency SpotRunner, reports CNET.
The reason behind his prognostication: SpotRunner does for TV exactly what Google does for internet advertising. The company allows advertisers to create their TV spots and then automates the buying process, giving buyers options on where and when those spots should run. The spot is created using templates and other processes that can then be customized with product or brand information.
SpotRunner, Blodget says, would be a much better fit for Google than was dMarc, the automated radio ad company Google bought last year. If Google fails to soon buy the ad company, Yahoo or Microsoft should, according to the former analyst.
Blodget also predicted the Viacom lawsuit against YouTube would be settled out of court and that the suit is simply a way for Viacom to negotiate via highly charged press headlines.
