A Blockbuster and MSN Messenger promotional deal will provide Italian MSN users with movie specials via the IM format. The initiative, announced this week in Italy, aims to increase Blockbuster brand awareness and to improve MSN's services at the same time. IconMediaLab developed the creative, which involves a Blockbuster icon on MSN that lets users reach a Messenger zone to access movie information.
The initiative may be on the leading edge of advertising integrated in an instant messaging system, but the initial advertisement probably does not make it clear to users that the Blockbuster logo will bring them this sort of content.
