AdHoc
Video search engine Blinkx is poised to launch its own ad platform for web video called blinkx AdHoc this Monday, reports The Next Net.
The technology, dubbed "AdSense for video" by CEO Suranga Chandratillake, offers media companies and video sites the ability to place targeted ads alongside - or in - Web videos based on words spoken in the content, as well as overall context.
Blinkx's index of 12 million video hours is already searchable through speech-to-text and clustering technologies. Like Google's AdSense, advertisers can buy keywords and ads will appear in videos where specific words are spoken or tagged.
The ads will take the shape of pre-roll, mid-roll, or post-roll video ads. Video "bugs," which crawl across the screen, and banners that appear around the video, will also be among blinkx AdHoc's offerings.
The Next Net points out there is also a new advertiser index that appears after the video in the form of a clickable list of every product or service mentioned in the video.
