Bing Gives MS Small Boost in June Search Rankings

Americans conducted over 14 billion queries on the top search engines in June 2009, with Google Sites accounting for 65% of market share and Microsoft Sites climbing to an 8.4% share, up 0.4 percentage points since introducing its new search engine Bing, according to data from comScore's monthly qSearch analysis.

As in past months, Google Sites led the US core search market in June, followed by Yahoo Sites (19.6%), and Microsoft Sites (8.4%).

Core Search Down Overall

The total number of June searches is down slightly from May's 14.3 billion. Google Sites, which declined 2%, accounted for 9.1 billion searches, followed by Yahoo Sites (2.8 billion), which declined 4%.Searches on Microsoft Sites - including Bing (1.2 billion) rose 3%, while Ask Network (552 million) and AOL LLC (439 million) held steady.

US Expanded Search Rankings

In the June 2009 analysis of the top properties where search activity is observed, Google Sites again leads the search market with 13.1 billion searches. Google is followed by Yahoo Sites with 2.9 billion.At #3, Microsoft Sites - with 1.2 billion searches - is up 3% from May, followed by #4 AOL LLC, with 736 million.Facebook.com, which recently surpassed MySpace in monthly unique visitors, experienced the highest growth of the top 10 expanded search properties with a 9% increase.

MySpace saw only a 4% bump, comScore said.
