Silicon.com: Avoid .eu domain scams, firms warned
Even though the .eu domain name doesn't become available until late 2003, several firms are already pre-selling bogus preregistrations. While the European Registry for Internet Domains (EURID) was selected as the entity to oversee registrations, they have not released any registration or preregistration opportunities to the market.
Anyone offering pre-registration of .eu domain name can not guarantee the domain name once registration has officially opened. However, EURID does anticipate offering a sunrise period, but that is still in the future.
