In a competitive climate where telecoms may block VOIP calls or domestic charges may rise, UK-based Avantimobile has developed a business model that, for the time being, sidesteps those hazards, according to a recent press release.
The system combines existing technologies from mobile networks such as Vodafone and Orange, with automated access to calls that cost as little as 2p per minute to the USA.
Users download an application that is then programmed over the air to the registered mobile and checks all numbers dialed by the user. If the call can be made within Avantimobile's network, the call will be re-sent through a local UK number.
The model operates similarly to calling cards, except without the extended digits-dialing and PIN use.
