AT&T Blue Room to Stream Lollapalooza Acts

AT&T, the presenting sponsor of the Chicago-based festival, will stream live acts on its music portal, among other efforts, as part of a broader strategy.

The AT&T Blue Room will give music fans free access to Lollapalooza acts with daily, live webcasts of big-name performances, a 24-hour streaming radio station featuring interviews and shows by past and present Lollapalooza artists, and on-site promotional opportunities for concert attendees, AT&T announced. The effort is part of a strategic initiative to link the AT&T brand to premier communications and entertainment experiences, as well as to fuel sales and demonstrate key products and services, the company said.

Aug. 4-6, the AT&T Blue Room will feature exclusive performances from some of the 130 or so bands at the music festival. Artists to be featured include Wilco, Ryan Adams, Panic! at the Disco, Sleater-Kinney, Theivery Corporation and other. Webcasts will run 12:30-10:00 p.m. CDT each day. Afterward, much of the content will be archived on the Blue Room.

Fans will also be able to log on and listen to Blue Room radio, a 24-hour streaming station featuring interviews and performances with past and present Lollapalooza artists.

As part of the presenting AT&T sponsorship, AT&T will offer festival attendees test-drives of such services as AT&T Yahoo! High Speed Internet, Cingular Wireless, and AT&T | DISH Network, and get tips on tasks like downloading music, video and ring tones as well as managing photos online.

In conjunction with event producers and Perry Farrell, AT&T is supporting "Mindfield," a game initially introduced by Perry Farrell at Lollapalooza 2003. Festival attendees sign up to play on the Lollapalooza site or through their wireless phone, and approximately once an hour during the event fans receive text messages with clues and passwords to navigate the game. Prizes include backstage tours and after-party tickets.
