AT&T Enables Real-Time Cell Video Sharing

AT&T has become the first service to allow mobile users to share live video between cell phones, reports The Associated Press.

The functionality is available in Atlanta, Dallas and San Antonio at present, but will be rolled out across other markets in late July. Video sharing requires the purchase of the Video Share service pack, with prices varying depending on minutes needed.

The video sharing function will not be included on the upcoming iPhone, for which AT&T is the sole service provider. That device will use an older network of AT&T's.

AT&T Chairman and CEO Randall Stephenson says Video Share has the potential to go beyond cell phones and appear as part of Internet and cable service packages as well.
