Amazon Brings Giver, Grapevine Apps to Facebook

Will giving go viral?
Amazon hopes so.

Amazon has officially hopped aboard the Facebook train with the release of two apps: Amazon Giver and Amazon Grapevine.

Giver imports user Amazon wishlists to their Facebook profiles. Friends can buy listed items for each other without having to go to Amazon's website. The app also makes suggestions based on user interests listed in the profile.

Giver also lists suggestions for friends and organizes them by birthday, to better facilitate the giving spirit.

The second app, Grapevine, acts as an Amazon activity feed, displaying reviews, ratings and wishlist updates.

Grapevine sounds almost too similar to Facebook's failed Beacon program, the app is completely opt-in– unlike Beacon, which automatically revealed what unwitting members bought on partner sites.
