BBC iPlayer Comes to iPhone

The BBC goes portable

The BBC iPlayer has launched a version for Apple's iPhone and iPod Touch, its first effort for a portable device.

BBC's Anthony Rose said the Apple devices were chosen because their wi-fi capabilities help optimize them to play high quality video.

The BBC plans on making future versions for "many more" handsets. It recently closed a deal with wi-fi firm The Cloud to provide all BBC online services free at Cloud's 7,500 hotspots in the UK.
